Washington Spirit vs Chicago Red Stars

There were two goals scored in this game, and they were VERY spread out.
The first goal was scored by Chicago in the 10th minute of the game. After a beautiful cross into the 6-yard box, Ella Stevens broke away from 2 defenders and was able to get up and head the ball into the net! Chicago was up 1-0 early! It was looking like Chicago was going to get the 1-0 win, but in the 86th minute, that changed. After getting a free kick just outside the 18, Washington Spirit had their prime opportunity. Andi Sullivan stepped up to take the free kick, and after playing a cross far post, Sam Staab got up and headed the ball back in the other direction. Since Chicago's goalkeeper was already off balance for sliding to get to the ball, she wasn’t able to get enough power behind her dive to get to the ball. Staab had tied the game up for the Spirit! Both teams fought hard to the end but neither team was able to score. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Houston Dash vs Orlando Pride

This was a very high-scoring game, 5 goals to be exact; Houston scored all 5. In the 27th minute, their first goal came. After getting a through ball played, Nichelle Prince ran onto the ball in the 18-yard box. Orlando’s goalkeeper came out and one of their defenders tried to clear it away, but it wasn’t enough. Prince was able to get her body around the ball and pass it into the goal, past the goalkeeper, at a very hard angle! Only 5 minutes later did they brace their lead. In the 32nd minute, Rachel Daly got a spectacular cross played into her. Even with two defenders on her, she stayed on sides and got up to head the ball. The ball soared far post and Orlando's keeper wasn’t able to save it. Only 7 minutes later did they get their 3rd goal! In the 39th minute, Nichelle Prince got a ball-played down line, dribbled it towards the middle of the 18, and then ripped a shot. Her shot took a deflection making it too hard for the goalkeeper to react to it. Prince had just gotten Houston a 3-0 lead and her second goal of the night! But she wasn’t done yet. Only 4 minutes into the second half, Prince scored again. In the 49th minute, a player from Houston touched the ball just enough to keep it in bounds near the goal. Prince ran onto it and took a one-time shot. She shot the ball across the goal and it hit the side netting of the goal! Prince had earned herself a hat trick!!! Things slowed down a little bit until around the 85th minute of the game. In the 86th minute, Michelle Alozie ran onto a through ball, dribbled it into the 18-yard box, and passed it into the net, just past the goalkeeper! The game ended in a great 5-0 win for Houston!
Portland Thorns FC vs Angel City FC
June 3rd, 2022
Portland got a very well-deserved win in this game, scoring 2 goals in the first 20 minutes! In the 15th minute, Sophia Smith played a corner kick into the box, and Kelli Hubly ran onto it and headed the ball far post! Portland had gotten their first goal! 3 minutes later, Christine Sinclair got another one for Portland. Hina Sugita took advantage of a bad touch from Angel City then got the ball and played it through to Sinclair. Sinclair was able to shoot first time and all she needed to do was pass the ball into the net! Portland was up 2-0! Portland's third and final goal didn’t come until later in the 2nd half. In the 68th minute, after getting a cross played in and it going right through the middle of the box, Janine Beckie got to the ball and crossed it back into the 18-yard box, where Sinclair was able to get up and head the ball into the back of the net! Portland took home the 3-0 win!
Chicago Red Stars vs OL Reign
June 4th, 2022
This game was decided by one game, and who better to decide than Mallory Pugh. Pugh had a shot that she took saved, so we knew when she got the chance again, she wasn’t going to waste it. In the 47th minute, Pugh got played a short through ball into the box, faked out her defender, and dribbled into the 6-yard box, then rocketed the ball into the left up 90 of the net! Chicago was able to hold on to their lead and get the 1-0 victory!
NJ/NY Gotham FC vs Washington Spirit
June 4th, 2022
Like the game before, this game was determined by one goal. Except this one was a little earlier on in the game. In the 21st minute, Margaret “Midge” Purce got a lot cross-played into the box. Washington's goalkeeper dove but couldn’t get to it. All Purce needed to do was tap it in. A Washington player cleared the ball but it was ruled that the ball had crossed the line, giving Gotham a 1-0 lead! Washington Spirit took a ton of shots but none of them were able to be finished. The game ended with Gotham getting a 1-0 win!
Racing Louisville FC vs North Carolina Courage
June 4th, 2022
While Racing Louisville got some shots off, North Carolina dominated this game. Their first goal came only four minutes into the game, when Kaleigh Kurtz was able to head the ball into the right side of the goal, giving North Carolina the early 1-0 lead! North Carolina's next goal came in the first minute of extra time of the first half when Diana Ordóñez was able to head the ball into the right side of the goal, getting North Carolina a two-goal lead! They weren’t done yet though. In the first minute of extra time after the second half, Débora Cristiane de Oliveira ran onto a through ball, and when it was just her and the goalie, she tapped it into the far side of the goal! The final score of the game was North Carolina Courage 3, Racing Louisville 0.
Kansas City Current vs San Diego Wave FC
June 4th, 2022
This was a four-goal thriller! Kristen Hamilton got this game going fast for Kansas. In the 11th minute, Hamilton got a cross play to the middle of the box, after the ball had been passed around from a corner. Hamilton jumped up and headed the ball into the back of the net! Kansas had gained an early lead thanks to Hamilton. Later in the first half, Alex Morgan would help even the score before the half. In the 37th minute, after a handball in the box, Morgan stepped up to take the PK. Morgan stepped up and shot the ball low to the left side. Morgan had tied the game! In the 63rd minute, Elyse Bennett got Kansas their lead back. As a cross came into the 6-yard box, Bennett got in front of her defender. When the ball reached her, she tapped the ball just wide enough that the keeper could get a hand to it but not save it. Kansas was in the lead again! BUT Alex Morgan made sure to tie it back up. In the 90th minute, after a cross came in and Kansas City just let it roll through the box and a bad clear attempt, Morgan followed the ball far post and tapped the ball in. Morgan had tied the game up 2-2. Neither team was able to score again leading to the final score of 2-2.
Angel City FC vs Houston Dash
June 7th, 2022
This was a very evenly matched game. Both teams had a lot of shots, and both goalies really got to show off their skills. However, the goalies performed so well that neither team was able to score, resulting in the end score being 0-0.
