May 30- June 6

Hi everyone! We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. A lot of NWSL games have been played so we are going to give you a summary of each one. Let's get to it!


Orlando Pride v Kansas City, May 30

This was a pretty evenly matched game. In the sixteenth minute Alex Morgan headed a beautiful corner into the goal, putting Orlando Pride up 1-0. There were more shots throughout the first half but neither team was able to score. During the second half there were some more opportunities but neither team was able to score. Orlando Pride received a penalty kick and in the 65th minute Alex Morgan took it but it hit the post. Neither team was able to score again. The final score was Orlando Pride 1, Kansas City 0.


Washington Spirit v OL Reign, May 30

There were a lot of shots but none were put into the back of the net until the 52nd minute. After Washington got a corner kick and played it in, after a lot of bouncing around Megan Rapinoe ended up scoring an own goal putting the Spirit ahead! Washington had a lot more opportunities but were unable to put any of them in the back of the net. Even without scoring again they managed to hold on to the lead and take home the victory.


Chicago Red Stars v North Carolina Courage, June 5

Chicago was on a roll, taking advantage of North Carolina's bad passes and sloppy touches. In the 29th minute they got their chance. After a beautiful corner was sent in, the ball was headed and it looked like the keeper had it, but after bobbleing it Rachel Hill was there to tap it into the back of the net. Chicago was in the lead! The score stayed the same, allowing Chicago to take home 3 points!


NJ/NY Gotham FC v OL Reign, June 5

You could tell from the beginning both teams wanted to win. However, the only goal scored in this game was a goal from Ifeoma Onumonu when she headed the ball into the goal off a corner. Both teams had other opportunities to score but neither team was able to. The final score ended up being NJ/NY Gotham FC 1, OL Reign 0.


Portland Thorns v Racing Louisville FC, June 5

Portland got the game going quick! In the 8th minute after the ball was passed back and Angela Salem for the Thorns ran onto it and shot a rocket into the bottom right corner of the goal! The score held for the rest of the half but once the second half started there was no stopping Portland. In the 48th minute after Lindsey Horan crossed the ball into the box to Rocky Rodriguez who shot the ball into the bottom left corner of the net! The Thorns had just lengthened their lead! Later in the 77th minute, It looked like Lindsey Horan was trying to cross it in but after a defender missed contact, the ball curved right into the side netting of the goal! Portland was able to keep the shut out and get the 3-0 victory!


Kansas City v Houston Dash, June 6

This was a pretty good game. Both teams had some pretty good opportunities but neither team was able to score for a while. The only goal to be scored was by Katie Naughton when she headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal of a corner! She scored the game winning goal! Neither team was able to score again. The final score was Kansas City 0, Houston Dash 1.
