Hi everyone! We hope everyone is doing well. Lets start off with the big NWSL player news, Alex Morgan is going overseas and so is Christen Press and Tobin Heath! Alex Morgan is going to Tottenham and Christen Press and Tobin Heath will be going to Manchester Untied! They will be playing against their national teammates Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle on Man. City.
Let's get to the games, Washington Spirit played the Chicago Red Stars and the North Carolina Courage played the Houston Dash.
Washington Spirit v Chicago Red Stars
This game was definitely a good match up. Chicago struck first with Kealia Ohai getting the ball on the left side of the field, playing it low into the 18 yard box and Sarah Luebbert was able to pass the ball first time into the bottom right corner of the goal! In the forty-second minute Savannah McCaskill got a red card!! This meant that Chicago would play the rest of the game with 10 players. The score would stay the same till half but it wouldn't be the final score. In the seventy minute after a lofted cross into the box Bayley Feist settled the ball and half volleyed it into the roof of the net! This was the beginning of a come back. The game was coming to a end but in over time Crystal Thomas got the ball, turned, crossed the ball low into the box where Jessie Scarpa was able to tap the ball into the net. The Washington Spirit won the game 2-1!
North Carolina Courage v Houston Dash
This game was an interesting game. In the eighteenth minute Debinha was taken down in the eighteen yard box, giving North Carolina Courage a penalty kick. Abby Dahlkemper stepped up and shot the ball into the bottom left corner! North Carolina was leading 1-0. Then in the twenty fifth minute Shea Groom took the ball and passed it to Veronica Latsko who was able to tap it into the goal! The Dash had tied it up! In the thirty-seventh Kristie Mewis received the ball and shot it near post on the left side and earned Houston a one goal lead! A few more shots were taken but no more goals we're scored in the first half. The second half was a different story. In the fifty-first minute Debinha shot the ball from like ten yards outside the eighteen yard box and the ball soared into the upper right corner of the goal! She had tied up the game! Than in the seventieth minute Sophie Schmidt received the ball and shot it into the left side of the goal. Houston was back in the lead. Thirteen minutes later in the eighty-eighth minute Lynn Willams received the ball and one touch shot it into the upper left corner! She had tied up the game! A few minutes later in the eighty-sixth minute Debinha received the ball and shot it into the bottom right corner of the goal! North Carolina was back in the lead. Neither team was able to score again. The final score was North Carolina 4 Houston 3.
