Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your day! In this blog, we will be writing about the US Women's National Soccer Team and their game versus Haiti. We will also be writing about Christine Sinclair breaking Abby Wambach's scoring record.
Before the kickoff, both teams gathered in the middle of the field for a moment of silence to honor Kobe Bryant and everyone that passed away in the helicopter accident.
After that, the teams were off the races. Then in the 2nd minute, Lynn Williams received the ball, lost one of her shoes and made a cross into the 18-yard box! Carli Lloyd missed the header but Christen Press was behind her and shot the ball flying into the net! There wasn't to much action after that until the 18th minute when one of Haiti's players took a corner kick and soared into the US goal right inside the post. Then referee Odette Hamilton called the goal off. A few minutes after, Christen Press made a corner kick into the 18-yard box that Sam Mewis headed just over the goal. After that not too much happened, then it was half time and the score was 1-0.
After halftime, it was time for kickoff. In the 59th minute, Carli Lloyd shot the ball but Haiti's goalie made an amazing save. In the 61st minute, Meagan Rapinoe subbed out Christen Press. Then, unfortunately, Rose Lavelle got a yellow card. Minutes later in the 67th minute, Lynn Williams scored a goal off Megan Rapinoe's corner kick! In the 71st minute, the United States subbed in Lindsey Horan for Rose Lavelle. Just minutes after Lindsey Horan was subbed in, she scored a goal off of Meagan Rapinoes corner kick! Not long after in the 80th minute, the United States subbed in Kelley O'Hara for Emily Sonette. Then in the final minutes of the game, Carli Lloyd scored a goal in the 93rd minute with an assist from Julie Ertz.
In other news, Christine Sinclar pasted Abby Wambach for the most goals scored in the Fifa pro games. She has always been a quiet person but on the field she is unstoppable!
