USWNT v Canada

Hi! Today we will be writing about the USWNT v Canada in the CONCACAF finals.

Here is the starting line up: Alysa Naeher (1), Crystal Dunn (19), Abby Dahlkemper (7), Ali Krieger (11), Emily Sonnett (2), Linsey Horan (9), Julie Ertz (8), Rose Lavelle (16), Jessica McDonald (14), Lynn Williams (13), Christen Press (20). They started in the formation of 4-3-3.

Canada started with the kickoff and the game was on. Rose Lavelle was sadly still wearing a soft cast to make sure that her wrist was ok. Nothing too big happened but we were noticing that Canada was playing a more compact game while the US Women's National Team was playing a more spread out game. Then in the thirty-third minute, Christen Press shot the ball but it hit the crossbar. Then only five minutes later in the thirty-eighth minute Alyssa Naeher came off her line and the ball bounced off her chest! That was a game-changing save! Then only a few seconds later Christen Press shot the ball and missed after receiving the ball from Rose Lavelle. Five minutes later in the forty-third, Rose Lavelle back-heeled the ball wide after Christen Press volleyed it in. The final half time score ended up being 0-0.

The US started the second half with kickoff. Only two minutes into the half Stephanie Labbé made a save that was shot by Lynn Williams. The US was coming out strong! In the 51st minute in the eighteen-yard box minute, Christen Press tried to play the ball a little bit in front of Linsey Horan so she could shot it but it was just a little too far for Horan. Only a minute later Rose Lavelle got the ball inside the six-yard box but was off balance and fell over, she tried to get back up to take the shot but Labbé was already there diving on the ball. In the fifty-fourth minute Lynn Williams played the ball into the six-yard box where McDonald let it pass her and the ball went straight to Horan, Horan just had too much momentum and chipped the ball over the crossbar. In the fifty-fifth minute, Christen Press took a corner that Jule Ertz got part of her had on and Jessica McDonald just couldn't get her foot to the ball. Then in the sixtieth minute, Lynn Williams took advantage of the bad touch from the Canadian defender and took a shot that went into the right ninety of the goal! The score was one to zero, US. A few minutes later in the sixty-second minute Megan Rainoe came in for Jessica McDonald and Sam Mewis came in for Rose Lavelle. Later in the 70th minute, Sam Mewis makes a corner kick that goes straight to Lynn Williams who heads it down straight to Horan who takes a touch then passes the ball into the lower right corner of the goal! Ten minutes later in the eightieth minute, Kelly O'Hara came in for Christen Press. Then only seven minutes later Lynn Williams played a threw ball straight to Rapinoe who was able to run onto it and pass it into the goal with her left foot! Five minutes later the game was over and the US had won three too zero. Carli Llyod took home the fair play award, Stephanie Labbé took home the golden glove, Jordyn Huitema took home the golden boot, and Christen Press took home the golden ball which she is later seen giving to her dad. Canda put up a fight but once the US figured out how to break down there defense there was no stopping them.
